At its December 2010 meeting, the ILRI Management Committee agreed a a proposal for the institute to use an ‘open’ license for its published outputs.

In January 2016 an 'attribution' only licence was adopted; allowing commercial re-use, with attribution.

This licence applies to the following categories of outputs:

• ILRI published reports and publications (print and digital)
• ILRI powerpoints
• ILRI posters
• ILRI video and films

For photographs on Flickr, the attribution, non-commercial license is used - primarily to safeguard the commercial re-use of image of people, for whom such use may not have been given consent,
